Cooke Insurance Group named to Top 101

Charlottetown, PE - Cooke Insurance Group was one of six (6) Prince Edward Island businesses recognized Tuesday night in Progress Magazine’s annual list of the Top 101 Companies in Atlantic Canada. Cooke Insurance ranks 68th in the list of top performing companies.

The ranking is announced each year in Progress Magazine.  A presentation was made to Cooke Insurance President and CEO, Jeff Cooke, along with five other PEI business recipients during a special award reception at the Mac Theatre, Charlottetown.

“It is extremely gratifying and an honour to be included in this list for the 10th consecutive year,” noted Cooke. “I am especially pleased that every year we have improved our rating. We work hard to continue to be known as a top performing company in innovation, customer service, human resource management and social responsibility.”

Founded in 1972, by Charlie Cooke, Cooke Insurance Group provides insurance coverage for property, automobile, business and medical. With head office in Charlottetown, and branches throughout New Brunswick and PEI, the company employs 69 professionals.


PEI Government Kicks off United Way Campaign

The PEI Government Employees kicked off their 2009-2010 United Way Campaign with a BBQ on September 10th, 2009. It was a beautiful sunny day with many in attendance. Cooke Insurance is delighted to help support such a worthy cause within our communities. Canadian companies and organizations are being urged in a new report to consider the swine flu pandemic as a "business continuity crisis" and to put response plans in place now, before the fall flu season arrives.

Named One of Atlantic Canada's Best Places to Work

The Cooke Insurance Group was named one of the 2009 “Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada.” “What an honor, we are thrilled our team enjoys coming to work" says Stephanie Cooke-Landry, Operations Manager at The Cooke Insurance Group. A driving factor for this year's roster is that most of the companies excel in creating a healthy work/life balance for their employees. For all the organizations, flexibility around scheduling, family life, and personal time is imperative.


The yearly list, compiled by Progress Magazine, surveys for-profit businesses, not-for-profit organizations, and government entities in the Atlantic region, assessing their “strengths and opportunities”. Both employers and employees are surveyed. To be eligible, companies must have a facility in the region with a minimum of 25 employees based here, and they have to have been in business for at least one year.


The list rankings were announced in June 19th at a luncheon in Halifax held to honour the winners. The 2009 Best Places to Work in Atlantic Canada will appear in the July/August issue of Progress magazine.

Adds Jeff Cooke- President, “ When you often spend more time at work than with family it is extremely important for us to insure we have a healthy, happy productive team."

Congratulations Harold!

After 28 years in the insurance industry, a valued member of our team has retired. We would like to wish Harold all the best and thank him for his many years with us. He was an integral part of what Cooke Insurance has become. Anyone who knows Harold knows that he loves to travel. We hope he enjoys his retirement and racks up those airmiles. He will be missed!
