The Cooke Insurance Group may have evolved from humble beginnings, but the vision and drive to be the leading coverage solution provider for all your insurance and investment needs has never changed.
The Cooke Insurance Group founder and CEO, Charlie Cooke, began his insurance career as a life agent for Transamerica Life Insurance Company. However, with his passion to provide better insurance solutions to Prince Edward Island, Charlie created Cooke Insurance Agency Ltd. (now Charlie Cooke Insurance) in 1972.
Trust, integrity, strong word-of-mouth, and some savvy marketing quickly provided Charlie's company with the opportunity to add to its resume. The first of many major breakthroughs came with Charlie's appointment as the Island broker for the established and very respected Lloyd's of London.
As business continued to grow, Charlie always kept the needs of his customers at the forefront of business. Realizing that Cooke Insurance Agency Ltd. may not be able to fully manage its expanding portfolio, Charlie's solution was to branch out and create new company divisions. Diversifying and focusing services under new divisions allowed Charlie to maintain the high standards that both he and his customers expected.
In 1987, Charlie established an insurance company - the Insurance Company of Prince Edward Island. The following year, he launched the adjusting company, Atlantic Adjusting and Appraisals Ltd. In 1989, the premier finance company, Maritime Financing and Acceptance Corporation began servicing customers. Finally in 2005, Cooke Financial was rebranded as Cooke Capital, which continues to meet the long term investment goals of their clients.
The Cooke Insurance Group is recognized as one of the leaders in the insurance industry. In 2005, the Cooke Group was ranked #77 out of the Top 101 Companies in Atlantic Canada (Progress Magazine). Currently, the Cooke Insurance Group employs more then 45 employees across Prince Edward Island and New Brunswick.
In 2009, for the second time in two years, we were again very pleased to be named by Atlantic Progress Magazine as one of the top 101 "Best Places to Work" in Atlantic Canada.
The Cooke Insurance Group is a true family affair. Shelly Cooke, Charlie's daughter, officially joined the company in 1981. Current Cooke Insurance President, Jeff Cooke, came aboard in 1983, while Charlie's other daughter, Stephanie, followed in 1995. Charlie's three children have all learned the insurance and investment business from "the master", and are the guiding forces in directing the Cooke Insurance Group to the next level of customer service excellence, products and solutions.

Charlie Cooke is the founder of Charlie Cooke Insurance Agency Ltd., and the heart and soul of the Cooke Insurance Group. Since he started his company in 1972, the Cooke Group has grown to over forty-five employees, all of whom are dedicated to Charlie's enduring values of putting the customer first.
Charlie's hard work over the years has not gone without notice. Charlie has been recognized by numerous industry organizations for promoting employee professionalism and outstanding work. A man mindful of his community, Charlie gives generously to education and charitable organizations throughout the Maritimes.
By focusing solely on the Maritime Region, Charlie prides himself in offering insurance solutions which truly make a difference for all Maritimers. In Charlie's own words - "As a Maritime company, we understand and respond to the real issues facing our communities."
With his children Stephanie and son Jeff at the helm of Cooke Insurance, Charlie looks forward to the future of his company with anticipation and confidence.
